How & Why
I have re-located from Southern California, for several reasons.
I currently live in the Santa Ynez Valley, in the heart of the Central Coast Wine Country.
I first visited this glorious area on vacation in the summer of 2007.
It was easy to fall in love with the beauty of the landscape, the fragrance of the vineyards, the abundance of veggies, fruit, flowers and yeah, even the aroma of the animals that live on the ranches and farms surrounding me.
My favorite places in the world are Italy (Umbria and Tuscany) Colorado (Telluride) and California (specifically the Malibu mountains).
There is an earthy, organic feel to all of these locations. The people are easy-going, fun loving and appreciate spectacular wine and fantastic food.
I decided to begin the next phase of my life here, because it afforded me my fondest memories of the places that I have been the happiest, all rolled into one perfect spot.
My desire was to become part of this winemaking community because I share the same passion for producing a product that helps make people smile.
The wine from this area is some of the best I have ever tasted.
Upon moving here, I realized my dream could actually become a reality!
My wines proudly bear the name of Gioia. It is pronounced: Joy-Ahh
Gioia is the Italian word for joy. It is in honor of my son Tyler.
With the generous assistance of a Santa Barbara County, award winning Master wine-Maker: Jim Porter of William James Cellars, I personally blended all 4 of my wines.
The grapes were harvested from the finest vineyards to be found in this naturally blessed wine making region.
Ocean air flows across this land, deep into the hills and canyons, allowing temperatures to climb at mid-day, becoming chilly over night. The balance of warm sunlight and fog cooled air, creates subtle, yet fully flavored grapes for fine wines.
My fondest wish is for all of you to welcome, accept and celebrate what life has to offer.
We’re all in this world together. I sincerely hope you will share Gioia and make it an enjoyable addition to your life, no matter where your journey takes you.
